Happy Birthday Peter Deering…………and our first giraffe

The Birthday Boy

Pete and Sue travelled from St Lucia and us from Monks Cowl, and hey presto we both arrived at the Cowrie Cove Guest House at the same time. Hot and humid.

Cowrie Cove Guest House
After much chatting and a walk on the beach, we celebrated Petes birthday with a bottle of fizz before heading out.

Dinner was at the very posh Oyster Box Hotel Grill room. We had to have cocktails on the roof terrace before sitting down. And very nice it was too.

After breakfast Sue headed to the airport to fly back to Cape Town and then home to the UK, Pete headed off to work and we set of for Zululand and the Fugatives Drift Lodge for a couple of nights.

Well we got lost, or the road disappeared so we headed back to Durban and tried again via Petermatitzburg. Cost us about 90 mins but hey ho! On the way we passed through some local villages. The last 20 miles were on gravel roads and the Toyota just floated along!

Lovely room

Already seen some Blesbok, Impala (Andy) and a couple of giraffe.
