Hlalanathi..............still struggling to pronounce it!

After an uneventful journey, we are here in fantastic South Africa. Everything transpired to make us late for our first nights stop, which we knew would be touch and go to arrive in the light! 30 mins late taking off from Istanbul, a ‘scenic’ route to pick-up the Hilux in Joburg, then road works and a closed road as we got close to camp, so no time for a shopping stop in Harrismith for provisions! But Hey! There’s a restaurant here and lovely it was!

Lucas is from Zim and picked us up from the airport and helped us through the mountain of paperwork at Bushlore!

Hlalanathi in the northern Drakensburg mountains and next to Losotho is 1600m which is higher than Les Gets, so whilst yesterday was sunny, the night was very chilly!!! The highest peaks are 3200m. Yesterday was cold because there had been snow on the top of the mountains! Its also very dry here at the moment with the locals worried about the summer coming.

Today we drove to Winterton and stocked up with groceries and planned our hike for tomorrow. Streak, spuds and corn on the cob on the brai for dinner. G and T for starters!
